Pre-Season Tournament 2024

Pre-Season Tournament 2024

Mark Talbot6 Sep 2024 - 13:22

Another succesful weekend!

As the dust settles from our annual tournament held on 31st August and 1st September, we thought it would be good to celebrate the success of the weekend with you all and to thank all the Clubs, Teams, Coaches, Players, Spectators, Referees and Volunteers that made the weekend possible.

Over the course of the weekend it was great to see so many children enjoying their football, playing hard, but fair and showing respect whilst they played. All of the players are testament to their clubs and we are immensely grateful for everyone that took part and made this year’s tournament another success.

One of my moments of the weekend was walking around the U8 pitches on the Sunday, to hear a coach call across (whilst laughing) to one of his defenders….’No cartwheels!’ for me to look up and see a defender cartwheeling across their box whilst waiting for the opposition GK to take a goal kick…this summed up grassroots football at its best.

As its football, we have to provide some stats:

  • 76 Teams
  • 1248 Players
  • 215 Games
  • 447 Goals
  • 3 Yellow Cards

Now to congratulate our winners across the age groups:

  • U8 – NN29 Titans
  • U9 – Corby Warrior Bravehearts
  • U10 – Harborough Town Rockets
  • U11 – Corby Hellenic Youth
  • U12 – Whitworths
  • U13 – FC Aztec Braves
  • U14 – Corby Kingswood Eagles
  • U15 – Whitworths
  • U16 – FC Aztec Phoenix

Over the weekend we had DE Photography taking pictures of as many of the games as they could, these were available over the weekend directly from the DE Stall, these are now also available from the DE Website, click here to browse and purchase photos from the weekend.

We were also fortunate enough to have some aerial photographs and videos taken on the Saturday, see the following links:

We would like to thank you all for taking part, and making the tournament enjoyable for all, and we hope to welcome you all back again next year.

Good luck to all clubs and teams for the upcoming 24/25 season!

Finally a huge thank you to our sponsors Power Saving Solutions who helped us deliver a clean and sustainably powered tournament delivering over 90kWh of energy from one of their battery systems!

We are open to feedback, good or bad, please complete our short feedback survey.
